Description

Handcraft Blends Basil Essential Oil is a 100% pure and natural, steam-distilled oil made from Ocimum basilicum sourced from India. Its concentrated aroma combines leafy green, herbal, lightly sweet, and spicy notes for compatible diffusers, soaps, candles, home-fragrance projects, and properly diluted massage-oil blends.

Steam-Distilled Basil Essential Oil with an Herbal & Spicy Aroma

Basil Essential Oil brings the recognizable character of aromatic basil leaves into a concentrated fragrance oil. Its green herbal opening is followed by lightly sweet and spicy notes, giving it a more layered scent than softer herbs or straightforward citrus oils.

The aroma can become prominent quickly, so begin with a small amount and adjust it gradually. Handcraft Blends Basil Essential Oil can be used alone when a clear basil scent is preferred or measured into custom herbal, citrus, spice, and wood fragrance combinations.

Benefits & Features of Basil Essential Oil

  • Herbal and spicy fragrance – Combines leafy green character with lightly sweet and spicy aromatic notes.
  • 100% pure and natural – Contains basil essential oil without an added carrier oil.
  • Ocimum basilicum – Made from the botanical species listed for this product.
  • Steam distilled – Produced using the stated extraction method.
  • Versatile fragrance ingredient – Suitable for compatible diffuser, soap, candle, and home-scent formulas.
  • Amber glass bottle – Helps limit direct light exposure, while the built-in dropper supports controlled dispensing.

Basil Essential Oil for Diffusers & Home Fragrance

Add Basil Essential Oil to a compatible diffuser according to the device manufacturer’s directions. Begin at the lower end of the suggested drop range and let the aroma disperse before adding more.

Use it alone for a concentrated leafy basil scent or combine it with citrus, herbal, floral, spice, and wood oils. Record the quantities used so a preferred diffuser or home-fragrance blend can be recreated consistently.

Basil Essential Oil for Soap & Candle Making

Basil Essential Oil can add a distinctive herbal and spicy aroma to compatible soaps, candles, wax melts, and other scented projects. Follow the usage-rate and temperature guidance supplied with the selected wax, soap base, or cosmetic formula.

Prepare a small test batch before making a larger quantity. Heat, wax, soap, and other formula ingredients can influence the finished basil fragrance, so measure each component accurately and evaluate the completed project first.

Basil Essential Oil for Body & Massage-Oil Blends

For topical cosmetic use, Basil Essential Oil must be diluted in jojoba, sweet almond, fractionated coconut, or another compatible carrier oil. Follow an appropriate dilution for the intended user, application area, and completed formula.

The diluted essential oil can be incorporated into compatible scented body oils, massage oils, perfume oils, and other cosmetic blends. Never apply undiluted basil essential oil directly to the skin.

How Does Basil Oil Differ from Other Herbal Oils?

Basil Essential Oil combines a leafy green aroma with lightly sweet and spicy notes. Rosemary Essential Oil generally has a drier, more woody herbal character, while Lemongrass Essential Oil introduces a pronounced lemony and grassy scent.

This makes basil useful when a fragrance formula needs a green culinary-herb character with added spice rather than the woody direction of rosemary or the citrus-like profile of lemongrass.

Oils That Pair with Basil Essential Oil

Combine basil with bergamot, grapefruit, or lemon for citrus contrast; lavender for a floral layer; cedarwood for a drier base; ginger for additional spice; or clary sage for a more detailed herbal composition. Peppermint can be added sparingly when a mint note is preferred.

HOW TO USE

Basil Essential Oil has a fresh, herbaceous, slightly sweet aroma that feels clarifying and energizing. It’s often used in aromatherapy to uplift the mind, and when properly diluted, it can be added to body care blends for a rejuvenating, comforting feel.

  1. Aromatic

Diffuse basil essential oil using about 3–5 drops per 100 mL of water to create a clear, uplifting atmosphere. Its bright herbal scent can feel both calming and energizing, making it a great choice for focus, balance, and everyday home aromatherapy.

  2. Rejuvenating body and massage blends

For topical use, always dilute basil essential oil in a carrier oil. A typical dilution is up to 1–2% — roughly 6–12 drops per ounce (30 mL) of carrier. Massage the diluted blend onto shoulders, arms, or legs to enjoy a warming, refreshing sensation as part of a relaxing self-care routine.

Warning: For external use only. Basil essential oil must be diluted before applying to the skin. Avoid contact with eyes and sensitive areas. Perform a patch test before first use and discontinue if irritation occurs. Keep out of reach of children and pets.

Customers praised this oil's potency and value, noting "a little goes a long way." Most found it great for diffusers, aromatherapy, and bug repellent. However, several noted it's Thai basil with an anise/licorice scent rather than sweet basil, which disappointed some expecting fresh basil aroma. A few concerns about inconsistent bottle volumes were raised.

Thai Basil

I prefer the Genovese basil scent and this one smells like thai basil. I'm not a huge fan, but it does smell very realistic. As if I were litteraly smelling the actual plant. I'll be buying a sweet lemon essential oil so I can diffuse together.

Very strong (basil)

The packaging was nice and the bottle is filled up but the scent of basil wasnt that fresh, minty-ish clean smell I was looking for. I actually cant stand the smell of this. Its all just personal preference though

Very Mild!

This basil essential oil smells like basil but it's very mild for being an essential oil; the fragrance is decent though and some may prefer a more mild scent. The value is good being a double pack but if you're looking for a really heavily smelling basil oil, this probably isn't the one you want.

The fragrance is very strong with no chemical after smell.

Handcraft Basil Essential Oil - 100 Pure and Natural - Premium Therapeutic Grade Essential Oil for Diffuser and Aromatherapy - 0.33 Fl Oz - Pack of 2 First impressions: Nice bottles of basil scented oil. The fragrance is very strong with no chemical after smell. Installationsetup: Use in a diffuser, in lotions, candles, and the like. Final thoughts: I used this on a pumice stone and put it in my bathroom. I use pumice stones and switch them out. They are cheaper than a diffuser and I can use whichever one I like, I just put them in a vacuum sealer bag when I want to change them out. I like this and Im glad I got it. 1 star - I don't recommend it at all, poor quality. 2 stars - I don't recommend it, it has multiple faults, or a very high price. 3 stars - It's passable, It has some faults but the quality is ok for what it is. 4 stars - Product quite acceptable, it does what it promises. 5 stars - Product that I totally recommend.

Strong, pungent basil smell

I was pleasantly surprised by how strong this basil oil smells. I've used basil oil before from a couple other brands, and this is at least as good or better. The aroma is distinct and pungent, and the small amount I rubbed into my skin could be smelled for the rest of the day. The oil itself is thin and clear and absorbsevaporates rapidly. I experienced no skin irritation from this. As mentioned above, a little goes a long way. The bottle comes with a reducer insert to help dispense one drop at a time. I like the packaging this arrives in, and the label includes the country of origin and species name. The current price of 10 for two bottles is decent if you only need a little oil at a time or want to split your order with a friend.

Very potent and well made

- I have tried many different oils from this brand and i've only had good experiences so far. This basil essential oil is no different. This is very potent and made well. Straight off the bottle it smells very strong, so strong it might throw off even a basil lover like myself. For this very reason i may not use this alone for topical application. I enjoy using this in my diffuser. Little goes a long way, you need just 2 or 3 drops and it is good for hours. Unlike the strong smell straight from the bottle this smells very fresh and green when used in a diffuser. - This is a good value for the price at 9.99 for 2 bottles. These will last a long time.

This Basil Essential Oil is now in my diffuser and smelling very nice. Its mixed with a citrus oil which seems to be a very good blend. Cant lose on this price as well, basically two for one. Highly recommend.

It's made from Thai basil, and so it smells like black licorice

I wasn't looking for a high quality basil essential oil (EO). I only want to deter ants by smearing it around a window sill. Actually, I MEANT to get bay leaf EO, but screwed up. That's a different story. LOL I've had good results and DO recommend bay leaf EO for deterring ants. We'll see how this accidental EO order fares against ant scent trails! So yeah, I knew I wasn't getting high quality EO because of the low price for a large amount, and I was okay with that for my intended purpose. What I was surprised by is that it's made from Thai basil, not sweet basil. Thai basil has a more anise, black licorice scent profile. I HATE that smell... That said, maybe the ants do, too? Fingers crossed! To me, this EO smells like anise patchouli green herb. It's a weird scent about which you'd never think, "Hey, that's basil!" A little honesty on the label would be nice. There's nothing wrong with Thai basil, but I think in the U.S., most people buying basil EO are expecting the smell of sweet basil, and so the type of basil should be listed in the ingredient list.

Basil applied can void the venom in a brown recluse spider bite.

I read online that the venom in a brown recluse spider bite can be cancelled out by applying Basil Oil to the bite. I do a lot of research online about subjects that interest me, so I thought some might be interested in knowing this information. I am glad sells it.

Not 4oz as described for this oil either

The product was packaged well. That is why they get 2 stars. The scent was okay and not strong at all. I bought this to make soap. I needed 3.75 oz for that I was making. When I set up my scale to measure the oils I put the bowl on the scale. Set to Oz and Tared the scale. -I have been making soap for 20 years and know how to weigh my oils. I was surprised that the bottle was only 3.5 OZ. When poured into the bowl, I had completely emptied the original container i just got 3.5 oz of fluid. Even after shaking the bottle like a mad woman. The second bottle was more like 3.33oz. I am glad I bought an extra bottle. I was able to finish my soap. But I don't think I will buy from this company again. 3 bottles of Rosemary and they were shorted as well. 2 bottles of Peppermint and both were short about .5 oz each. I just got my 2 bottles of Lemon, and we shall see about them this weekend. FYI, if you are buying to make soap, Peppermint and Rosemary EOs do cause seizing so work quickly. -Not brand related. Just the nature of the EOs. So, bring to light trace and hand stir in the EO and rush to get in your molds.

Quality Stuff!

This oil is great! It is a spicier type basil, but overall mellow and herby. I use it on scent sticks in my kitchen and bathroom because it blends nicely and basil is supposed to have bug-repellent properties (though not as strong a mint or rosemary). It is so difficult to find basil oil! I had bought some sachet from on here, but it was 18 for a small pack of three that did not smell nearly as nice as this large bottle of basil oil. I will definitely be buying this again in the future, so it may be a year or two since this bottle is very large for the price and will last a while. Definitely recommend if you are looking for a pleasant herbal scent besides lavender, sage, or mint. Its mellow and unobtrusive. Love it!
